Shannon Manley Bales is a celebrated DNA detective, writer, and tireless champion for healing and truth. Born in Houston, Texas, he now calls the scenic Miller Beach, a Gary, Indiana lake community, home with his husband, Joseph. Shannon launched his career in finance, where he gained extensive experience in banking and managing collection agencies. It was then, he developed vital skip tracing and research skills, which would prove useful as a genetic genealogist.

His own life was dramatically changed when a DNA test revealed a long-secret family history, opening up a connection between his biological father and unexplained crimes. This turning point sparked a personal mission: to assist others in discovering their origins, restoring families, and fighting for justice that still exists in society. Shannon’s first book is an expert fusion of mystery, true crime, and investigative reporting, born from his experiences and professional training.

A proud stepfather and grandfather, Shannon delights in family life, particularly on winter visits home to Houston, a well-loved snowbird getaway since retirement. Outside of writing and research, he enjoys hiking, camping, and sharing his journey toward healing and understanding with others who are navigating the challenges of family discovery.
